Senate Republican recall elections tomorrow -- Don't forget to vote!

Senate Republican recall elections will be held tomorrow, Tuesday, August 9.  The Pro-Life Wisconsin Victory Fund political action committee (PAC) has proudly endorsed incumbent State Senator Dan Kapanke (R-La Crosse) in the 32nd Senate District.

The 32nd Senate District in southwest Wisconsin includes La Crosse, Vernon and Crawford counties. Click here for a complete map of the district. Senator Kapanke is being challenged by pro-abortion State Representative Jennifer Shilling (D-La Crosse).

For those of you who live in the 32nd Senate District, tomorrow’s recall election is too important to miss.  Plan to exercise your right to vote tomorrow, August 9, and encourage your family and friends to do the same.  Vote for life, and may God bless Wisconsin!

Obama administration mandates contraception/ sterilization coverage

Adopting the recommendation of the Institute of Medicine (IOM), the Obama Administration on August 1 announced its decision to require all health insurance plans to cover contraceptives and sterilizations as basic care under the new health care law.  As parts of an essential "preventive care" package, "contraceptive methods and contraceptive counseling" as well as sterilizations will be covered with no copayments. "Not doing it would be like not covering flu shots," said Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius.

The Obama administration's decision to grant entitlement status to contraception is thoroughly ideological.  It is not medical.  Pregnancy is not a disease.  Fertility is a natural state - it is not a health impairment to be treated medically with birth control.  Birth control to prevent pregnancy is not health care - it's a lifestyle choice.  As such, American citizens, many of whom are morally and medically opposed to contraception, should not be forced to pay for it with their tax dollars. Bill banning sale and use of aborted fetal body parts introduced

Legislation prohibiting the sale and use of human fetal body parts was introduced last week. Assembly Bill (AB) 214, authored by Representative Andre Jacque (R-Bellevue), bans persons from knowingly and for valuable consideration acquiring, receiving, or transferring a fetal body part. It also bans persons from knowingly providing, receiving, or using for experimentation a fetal body part. Fetal body part is defined to mean a cell, tissue, organ, or other part of an unborn child who is aborted by an induced abortion.  Senator Glenn Grothman (R-West Bend) plans to introduce companion legislation in the Senate. Click here for a copy of AB 214.

University of Wisconsin (UW) officials are already attacking the bill, claiming that it will have a “chilling effect” on the biomedical research UW Madison is currently conducting using aborted fetal tissue. Click here for a Capital Times article detailing the UW’s opposition to AB 214 and Rep. Jacque’s and PLW’s response.

Click here for PLW's legislative memo detailing the UW’s grisly research on human fetal body parts.

Federal law prohibits the interstate trafficking of human fetal body parts.  Wisconsin’s intrastate commercial activity must have a similar prohibition so that we can guarantee the highest ethical standards of academic research and medical care in our state.  Pro-Life Wisconsin thanks Representative Jacque for introducing AB 214 and defending the human dignity of our aborted brothers and sisters.

Abortionist admits: Babies sometimes born alive and left "wiggling around in the toilet"

From LifeSiteNews:

In disturbing testimony during court proceedings against a well-known Florida abortionist, a fellow abortionist reportedly admitted that some aborted children are delivered alive and left “wiggling around in the toilet,” where they are allowed to die.

The testimony occurred during proceedings against abortionist James Pendergraft, who was forced to pay over $36 million last week for a botched procedure that left its intended target alive, but severely disabled.

Pendergraft, who was convicted of felony extortion in 2001, was told by an Orlando County jury to pay $18 million in the civil suit itself and another $18 million in punitive damages, totaling over $36 million.

Michele Herzog of Pro-Life Action Ministries, a witness in the courtroom, said that jurors listened as abortionist Randall Whitney, one of Pendergrast’s accomplices, “cavalierly stated that yes, babies are delivered in the toilet all the time and many times are still alive, wiggling around in the toilet.”
