U.S. Supreme Court orders appeals court to hear Liberty University’s Obamacare lawsuit

Last Monday the U.S. Supreme Court ordered the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals to review the constitutionality of the Affordable Car Act’s (ACA) employer and contraceptive coverage mandates. Liberty University filed suit against the ACA’s individual mandate, one of several groups to do so. When the Supreme Court upheld the individual mandate in June, it disRed Liberty University’s entire lawsuit. The school then petitioned the court to reopen its arguments against the employer mandate and the contraceptive coverage mandate which were not addressed by the court’s summer ruling. The Supreme Court agreed and directed the 4th Circuit to hear arguments on the two mandates. The 4th Circuit could hear oral arguments as early as next spring. “This is a huge decision by the court. It breathes new life into our challenge once again,” Mat Staver, founder and chairman of Liberty Counsel, which represents Liberty University, told POLITICO.  Click here for the full story.

United Kingdom's "death pathways" for sick children

In the United Kingdom, the government’s socialized medicine is run by the National Health Service or NHS. Recently a physician’s testimony on “death pathways” for sick babies and children was published in the British Medical Journal. In it, he shined light on the NHS and hospitals cooperation in setting up these death pathways.

The death programs are devised by the NHS Trust in conjunction with hospitals and used most often for disabled babies. These babies and children are discharged to home or hospice care with a list of medicines and orders to stop nutrients and fluids.

The anonymous physician described having supervised the agonizing deaths of ten babies in just one neo-natal unit.  Parents are coerced into accepting the death pathway because doctors tell them it is in their child’s “best interests” or because the child’s survival is “futile.”

But the doctor knows how horrific prolonged and forced deaths can be. Bernadette Lloyd, a hospice pediatric nurse, has written to the Cabinet Office and the Department of Health to criticize the use of death pathways for children. Click here to read more.

I have seen a 'reasonable' number of children recover after being taken off the pathway. I have also seen children die in terrible thirst because fluids are withdrawn from them until they die. I witnessed a 14 year-old boy with cancer die with his tongue stuck to the roof of his mouth when doctors refused to give him liquids by tube. His death was agonizing for him, and for us nurses to watch. This is euthanasia by the backdoor."

It is indeed euthanasia and it is an extension of the abortion mentality.

The impetus for such heinous crimes might just be cash payments made to hospitals to hit death pathway targets, also an extension of state-sponsored health care.

Missouri appeals court blocks HHS mandate for catholic businesses

On Wednesday, November 28, the United States Court of Appeals for the 8th District in Missouri granted the St. Louis-based O’Brien’s Industrial Holdings, LLC’s request for an injunction against enforcement of the HHS contraceptive coverage mandate.

"By granting our motion, the appeals court blocks the implementation of the HHS mandate and clears the way for our lawsuit to continue - a significant victory for our client," said Francis Manion, Senior Counsel of the American Center for Law and Justice(ACLJ). The ACLJ is a pro-life legal counsel organization that specializes in constitutional cases.

Frank O’Brien, the owner of the business that employs over 80 workers, posted his mission statement on the company’s website: "To make our labor a pleasing offering to the Lord while enriching our families and society."

Instead, the HHS Mandate violates Catholic religious beliefs by imposing the requirement that employers must purchase insurance that provides coverage for contraceptives, sterilization, and abortion-inducing drugs.

The ACLJ is involved in two other direct challenges to the HHS Mandate, while providing support for a dozen other cases.
