City of Madison proposes drastic buffer zone outside abortion clinics

The city of Madison will soon consider a proposal to impose a buffer zone of 160 feet around abortion clinics in the city. This buffer zone is quite severe---over 4 times the size of the controversial Massachusetts buffer zone being considered by the U.S. Supreme Court---and it would effectively end all sidewalk counseling at the Planned Parenthood abortion center on Orin Road.

There have never been any issues with prayer or protesting at the clinic in Madison, and vague accusations of harassment and intimidation are completely unfounded. Madison city councilwoman Lisa Subeck, the author of the proposal, is the former director of NARAL Pro-Choice Wisconsin. Her agenda is completely transparent. The proposed statute is nothing but an attempt to shut pro-lifers up.

“We’re not protesting with anger or hate," said Gwen Finnegan, director of Pro-Life Wisconsin's Madison affiliate Vigil for Life, We’re out there because we care. We care about everyone going to Planned Parenthood, especially the young mothers who are pregnant and feel there is no other option.”

Disposable Financial Babies: Pope Francis on our Throwaway Culture

Dr. Taylor Marshall has a great post on the value of children in light of our throwaway culture.

"...when we are in public with our seven children, 95% of the comments we get are commodity questions. Very few focus on the human dignity of our children. Instead, they think of them as monetary liabilities. They are like a depreciating boat in your garage – except they don’t float on a lake or pull you around on water skis." Read more
