Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin urges
donations in Pro-Life Wisconsin's name
Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin [PPWI]
agrees with Pro-Life Wisconsin: PPWI
is bad for Wisconsin! Click here
to view the fundraiser email that PPWI sent out last
week, encouraging donations to PPWI in Pro-Life Wisconsin's name. While
there is much that could be said, PPWI, abortionists and all those who
are pro-abortion remain in our prayers. We urge you to pray for them as
well.

Join our protest of Cecile Richards'
fundraiser for Tom Barrett
On Thursday, July 8, Planned
Parenthood of Wisconsin [PPWI] announced that Cecile Richards,
president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, will be the
keynote speaker for two fundraisers for gubernatorial candidate Tom
Barrett. Click
here to view the event on PPWI's website.
Planned Parenthood’s theme
of ‘Moving Wisconsin Forward’ is disrespectful to the thousands of
babies they kill every year, babies who will never see the light of day
in Wisconsin.
We will prayerfully and peacefully protest the bloody collaboration of
Cecile Richards,
Governor Jim Doyle (a PPWI lifetime achievement award recipient) and
Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett (endorsed by PPWI for Wisconsin governor).
The communities in which these events will
be held – at the homes of Planned Parenthood supporters – will not be
able to ignore Planned
Parenthood’s destructive agenda.
Milwaukee: Wednesday, July
28
Protest 4pm - 7pm, as the event is from 5pm-7pm. We will witness to
people as
they arrive and leave, as well as the street traffic.
Event will be at the home of Chris & Miriam Abele, 3319 N. Lake
Drive, Milwaukee. We will be across the street and on the sidewalk.
Madison: Thursday, July 29

people as

Rasmussen poll results
show both of Pro-Life Wisconsin's endorsed
candidates lead Barrett by a significant margin. An Associated Press

New York Times article reveals long-term plan
to push abortion in medical schools
On July 12, the New York Times published
a
long article on abortion providers and pro-abortion strategies. The
article discusses how abortion was introduced to ob/gyn medical
students at universities, in order to train students in a grisly
procedure. The article admits most medical students do not want to be
abortionists; indeed, who would want to kill life rather than work to
save life?
UW-Madison is a textbook example of what the New York Times describes. Medical
residents in the UW School of Medicine Ob/Gyn Department have
two four-week rotations at Planned Parenthood, where they view and
participate in abortions. To view the rotation schedule, click here.
To
view
the signed contract between UW and Planned Parenthood of
Wisconsin, click here.
From the New York Times:
"[Abortion activists] have built residency programs and fellowships at
university hospitals, with the hope that, eventually, more and more
doctors will use their training to bring abortion in their practices.
The bold idea at the heart of this effort is to integrate abortion
so... that it's a seamless part of health care for women - embraced
rather than shunned."
Pro-Life Wisconsin submitted a request for an opinion to Attorney
General JB Van Hollen on whether UW-Madison is violating state law by
training abortionists. Van Hollen has recommended an audit of the
program. Click here

Pro-life sidewalk counselor training
Pro-Life Wisconsin and the Rockford Pro-Life Initiative are
co-sponsoring a sidewalk counselor training session. The event will be
Saturday, July 31 from 9 a.m. to noon at St. Bridget Parish, 600
Clifford Ave., Loves Park, Ill.
Sidewalk counseling is exactly what the name implies — standing on the
sidewalk outside an abortion clinic, counseling women and couples on
their way inside. It is a last attempt to turn their hearts away from
abortion and offer real help. Veteran sidewalk counselor JT Eschbach
from the Pro-Life Action League will be conducting this free seminar
that is open to people of all ages who are interested in knowing how to
be an effective witness for Christ and life at an abortion clinic. This
training is also very helpful for anyone interested in learning
how to talk to people about abortion and help guide them to real help.
To attend, email Kevin at
everylifematters@comcast.net or call (815) 494-0333. You MUST pre-register in order to
attend.
The Rockford abortion mill was recently in the news, after the
owner attacked sidewalk counselors with a chainsaw. Read it here.

"Full service" assisted suicide clinic planned
By Julie Grimstad,
Executive Director, Life Is Worth Living
Recently, I received a shocking letter from Rita Marker, JD, Executive
Director of the International Task Force on Euthanasia and Assisted
Suicide. She asked those who received this letter to share the
information with others, hoping that we would help our friends and
families understand what is at stake.
Oregon was the first place in the U.S. to legalize physician-assisted
suicide. That law became effective in 1997. Marker has been in
the forefront of the fight against such laws, repeatedly warning, “Once
assisted suicide has been transformed into a medical treatment, it is
inevitable that assisted-suicide clinics will eventually become a
reality.”
The following is a brief
summary of the information in her letter:
In late June, a Portland
psychiatrist, Stuart Weisberg, MD, announced his plan to open “Dignity
House.” It will be a “full-service” assisted suicide clinic where you
can schedule the day of your death and have friends, family and pets
present. For an extra fee, a catered last meal, fresh garden flowers
and music can be arranged. You’ll also have the option of a makeup
specialist so you’ll look your best if you choose to have an
“end-of-life camera” videotape your death. Total cost of the “package
deal” is $5000.
As unbelievable as it
seems, it’s true. The details described above are from Dr. Weisberg’s
website and news articles about his endeavors. Furthermore, he has made
it clear that he would be following the requirements of the Oregon
Death with Dignity law.
Damage control was swift.
The Oregon Medical Board issued an emergency suspension of Weisberg’s
medical license – not because his clinic would be unlawful, but because
of prior drug prescribing irregularities. Weisberg has vowed to get the
suspension lifted. The executive director of Compassion & Choices
(C&C) – formerly the Hemlock Society – issued a press release in
which she claimed that Oregon’s law would not permit Weisberg’s
assisted suicide clinic. She claimed that a psychiatrist can’t
prescribe lethal drugs or be an “attending physician” under Oregon’s
law. She’s dead wrong on all counts.
An openly operating
assisted-suicide clinic would hamper plans to gain approval of
Oregon-style laws in other states. Marker wrote, “Until they have a few
more states in their win column, assisted suicide activists don’t want
people to know where their plans inevitably lead…They know that the
concept of assisted suicide clinics horrifies people.”
Now that you are
informed, get the word out to others. We must not allow assisted
suicide to spread because people are uninformed. Silence is deadly.

Pro-life news wrap-up
- Pro-Life
Wisconsin is calling upon the Wisconsin State Legislature to
pass legislation opting the state of Wisconsin out of abortion coverage
in its prospective state health insurance "exchange." United States
House Resolution (H.R.) 3590, the Patient
Protection
and
Affordable
Care
Act (a.k.a. Obamacare)
allows
health
insurance
plans offering abortion coverage to participate in a state's exchange
and to receive federal subsidies unless the state legislature
proactively opts-out of offering such plans. Download the petition here
or click here
to sign the petition online. We ask you to sign the petition and
encourage your family, friends and neighbors to sign it as well. Feel
free to photocopy the petition and gather as many signatures as you can.

- U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a self-professed
devout Catholic, received an award from abortion giant Planned
Parenthood at a reception July 15. The award will be given in
recognition of her efforts in passing the federal health care
legislation, and, in particular, for her help in ensuring that the
Stupak abortion funding ban was not inserted in the bill. Read more on
that here.
- Human Life International is asking for prayers for Kenya, as the
nation will be voting on a referendum to the constitution. The revision
to the constitution would legalize abortion on demand and lead other
African nations to do the same. Read Fr. Euteneuer's weekly column here.
- In Spain, the Archbishop of Burgos, Francisco Gil Hellín, has issued
a call to Spanish Catholics to resist the country's new abortion law,
which he says is no law at all. "What society would continue if it
declared that it is the right of citizens to kill innocent persons by
majority [vote]?" the Archbishop stated. Spain's new law abolishes
penalties for all abortions during the first 14 weeks of pregnancy. It
also allows minors to obtain abortions without parental permission.

- Jill Stanek has an update on Elena Kagan's confirmation
process. Americans United for Life revealed the part Kagan played in
the Clinton Administration, in pressuring the American College of
Obstetricians and Gynecologists to change their policy statement on
partial-birth abortion. Kagan may have perjured herself during
testimony, according to AUL. Read it here.
