|Personhood Passes in North Dakota!
On Friday, March 22, North Dakota became the first state in the nation to pass a personhood amendment. The North Dakota House of Representatives passed SCR 4009 by a vote of 57-35. The measure passed the State Senate earlier in February and will now be referred to the people of North Dakota for a popular vote in November 2014. The amendment states, “The inalienable right to life of every human being at any stage of development must be recognized and protected.” Matt Sande, Pro-Life Wisconsin’s legislative director, offered the following comments:
“Pro-Life Wisconsin commends the North Dakota Legislature for the courage of their convictions in passing the first personhood amendment in the history of the United States. By extending the equal protection of the law to all preborn children from conception, North Dakota is on its way to being the first state in our country to ban surgical abortion without exception. The broad coalitional force that backed the amendment – North Dakota Family Alliance, North Dakota Right to Life, Concerned Women for America North Dakota, North Dakota Life League, North Dakota Catholic Conference, and Personhood North Dakota – is something to be emulated in Wisconsin and in other states advancing personhood amendments. We encourage pro-life Wisconsinites to work and pray for a successful personhood vote in North Dakota next year. May God bless North Dakota and her preborn children.”

May God, the giver of Life, grant you a blessed Holy Week and a joyful Easter!
