Madison's Brat Fest Cancels Speaking Invitation to Pro-Life Activist

Bob Lenz is a motivational speaker and who is heavily involved with the popular pro-life group Save the Storks. Recently, however, his invitation to speak at "The Worlds Largest Brat Fest," a charity event in Madison, was cancelled due to his pro-life beliefs---even though his talk did not deal with abortion.

The cancellation was due to a letter of complaint written by Madison Ald. Lisa Subeck, the former executive director of NARAL Pro-Choice Wisconsin.
Although Lenz told the Wisconsin State Journal that his talk would not focus on abortion, instead touching on general Christian themes, Subeck, the head of progressive group United Wisconsin and one of two Democrats running for an open state Assembly district on Madison’s west side, said the two could not be separated given Lenz’s prominent role in anti-abortion activism.

Pastor Sues City After Being Jailed Over Public Support of Personhood

Pastor Stephen Joiner joined a group of pro-lifers publicly showing their support for Personhood in Mississippi. But shortly after he arrived, a police officer told them they were blocking traffic, and asked the protesters to leave. After invoking his First Amendment right to publicly protest, Pastor Joiner was arrested for "failure to obey a police officer."
“Pastor Joiner was then handcuffed so tightly that his wrist bled from the handcuffs, taken into custody, shackled in leg restraints, and transported to the Lowndes County Jail,” the lawsuit, filed by Liberty Counsel on Wednesday, outlines. “There, he was denied food, water, and even use of a bathroom, although he had explained to them that he was diabetic and had not eaten anything for some time and that he needed to use the restroom.”
