Witnesses: Young teen forced into Milwaukee abortion facility

From LifeSiteNews:

Pro-life sidewalk counselors outside a Milwaukee abortion clinic Thursday morning [November 3] say that a preteen girl asking pro-lifers for help was forced into the clinic by escorts and a guardian, and that police have responded saying that they could do nothing.

Tobey Neuberger, a sidewalk counselor from Cedarburgh, said the incident occurred just before 10 a.m. outside Affiliated Medical Services, where she and two other female pro-life counselors gave a "very young" African-American girl literature as she entered the clinic, and told her that she could get more information at a pro-life center across the street. Witnesses said the girl looked anywhere between 11 and 14 years old.

Neuberger says she and her companions were "just incredulous" as they watched the girl come back out and ask for help from the counselors, only to be physically blocked by the escort staff.

"Once she said she wanted to go across the street, she [the escort] held up her arm and blocked her, then she put her hand on the kid's shoulder to stop her," said Dan Miller, another pro-life sidewalk counselor and witness present at the scene. "The whole group of vigilers were pleading for her to let her go across the street to get free help, and they wouldn't let her."

This isn't the first time Affiliated Medical Services has made the news during 40 Days for Life. On Friday, October 21, an ambulance rolled up to Affiliated Medical Services to take away yet another woman to a nearby hospital after a botched abortion. AMS staff can be seen laughing, dancing and doing the limbo as the woman was taken away. One AMS staffer even threatened vigilers, saying, "You're lucky it isn't you in the hospital." Watch the video here.

40 Days for Life of Milwaukee ended this fall campaign with 25 saved lives! At the closing ceremony on Sunday, a very special guest came out to pray with us -- a mom and her month old son, one of our saves from this February, who is now committed to bringing the message of life and hope to others.

Thank you to everyone who has turned out to pray with us at 40 Days for Life locations across the state. Your prayers, sacrifices, fasting and witness are making a difference! Nationwide, at least 508 lives have been saved from abortion, due to 40 Days for Life.

State Senate passes "Strong Communities... Healthy Kids Act"

The Wisconsin State Senate passed legislation on Wednesday that would reverse the contraception education/instruction sexual education mandate of 2009, giving public school districts the freedom to adopt abstinence-only human growth and development curricula. Senate Bill 237, authored by Senator Mary Lazich (R-New Berlin), also prohibits school-based volunteer health providers from providing instruction in human growth and development thus preventing Planned Parenthood nurses and physicians from teaching about abortion and contraception in our public schools. Senate Bill 237 passed on a party-line 17-15 vote. All Senate Republicans voted in favor of the bill. Click here for a copy of the roll call vote and click here for a copy of PLW's legislative memo.

Pro-Life Wisconsin thanks Senator Lazich and all Senate Republicans for passing this important legislation. Chastity/abstinence is the only message that will protect our children's bodies and preserve their innocence, and local school districts should be given this option. Sexual development is not properly under the purview of a school health room physician or nurse, especially one from Planned Parenthood. Senate Bill 237 now advances to the State Assembly.

Assembly special election tomorrow -- Don't forget to vote!

A Wisconsin State Assembly special election will be held tomorrow, Tuesday, November 8, in the 95th Assembly District (AD). The 95th AD comprises the City of La Crosse.

The Pro-Life Wisconsin Victory Fund political action committee (PAC) has proudly endorsed David Drewes (R) in the 95th AD special election.

For those of you who live in the City of La Crosse, tomorrow's special election is too important to miss. Plan to exercise your right to vote tomorrow, November 8, and encourage your family and friends to do the same. Vote for life, and may God bless Wisconsin!

Mississippians to vote on personhood amendment tomorrow; Governor Haley Barbour votes "Yes" on Amendment 26

The people of Mississippi will go to the polls tomorrow to vote on Amendment 26, an amendment to the Mississippi Constitution that will recognize every human being, from conception, as a legal person. The proposed one-sentence state constitutional amendment, Initiative Measure Number 26, reads, "The term 'person' or 'persons' shall include every human being from the moment of fertilization, cloning or the functional equivalent thereof." Click here for more information on the Yes on 26 campaign.

Personhood USA reported on Thursday night that Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour voted "Yes" on Amendment 26 by absentee ballot. The Governor made the announcement at a rally for Republican gubernatorial candidate, and Yes on 26 campaign Co-chair, Lt. Governor Phil Bryant. "I think all in all, I know I believe life begins at conception. So I think the right thing to do was to vote for it," said Barbour.

Pro-Life Wisconsin is excited about this courageous effort, and we pray for pro-life Mississippians as they vote for life tomorrow.

The Salvation Army and abortion

Before you drop your hard-earned change in the Salvation Army's red kettles, or volunteer to ring the bell for the Salvation Army, make sure you know what you are supporting.

The Salvation Army devotes a portion of their website to their positions on various social issues, such as human trafficking, euthanasia and abortion. You can find their position statement page here.

On the issue of abortion: "The Salvation Army recognizes tragic and perplexing circumstances that require difficult decisions regarding a pregnancy. Such decisions should be made only after prayerful and thoughtful consideration, with appropriate involvement of the woman's family and pastoral, medical and other counsel. A woman in these circumstances needs acceptance, love and compassion."

While that statement may sound understanding and accepting, it is a far cry from the simple position of, "Our organization opposes all abortions, because we believe each human life is sacred and valued before God." The Salvation Army's posted statement is, unfortunately, a fancy way of supporting, at the very least, abortions in the exceptions cases - rape, incest, life of the mother and fetal deformity. Click here to read our position on why abortion is never the answer.

Research done by Life Decisions International [LDI] sheds more light on the subject. LDI has posted an interview from Der Bund, a Swiss newspaper, conducted with Salvation Army General Shaw Clifton (the General directs Salvation Army operations throughout the world).

Speaking on behalf of the Salvation Army, Clifton stated, "We are not as conservative as our catholic brothers and sisters. There are situations in which abortion is the lesser evil, for instance in cases of severe deformities of the fetus, [or] rape."

Discussing birth control and sterilization, "The Salvation Army encourages the use of birth control methods that are contraceptive… The Salvation Army does not oppose sterilization as a means of contraception. However, because it is generally irreversible in nature, such a procedure should be undertaken only after full consideration is given to spiritual, moral and practical ramifications." The full text of LDI’s article on the Salvation Army can be read here (page 8).

In addition, Human Life International has an excellent article about the Salvation Army, UNICEF and other "good" causes that don’t always promote good. Click here to read.
