Pro-Life Wisconsin's 20th anniversary celebration highlighted by debut of inspirational video

More than 400 people joined Pro-Life Wisconsin Saturday night for the Annual Fall Auction Dinner, which this year marked PLW’s 20th anniversary as an organization. Among the evening’s highlights, which included appearances by Bishop Don Hying, Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch, and Pro-Life Action League founder Joe Scheidler, was a moving video showcasing Pro-Life Wisconsin’s activism across Wisconsin.

To view this PLW video, click here.

The new video shares moving testimony from five Pro-Life Wisconsinites who have courageously dedicated themselves to saving lives and changing hearts: Bishop Don Hying, Rep. Andre Jacque, Dan Miller of 40 Days for Life Milwaukee, Amanda Detry of UW-Madison Students for Life, and Elizabeth Garibaldi of 40 Days for Life-La Crosse.

“These heroic individuals are representative of so many more Pro-Life Wisconsinites who have done so much to restore respect for human life,” said PLW State Director Peggy Hamill. “These leaders have not only been bold in their activism, but they’ve done so in a principled way, espousing the same no-exceptions philosophy that Pro-Life Wisconsin has articulated for two decades. We’re confident that this video will inspire people young and old, from all walks of life to get involved and make a difference.”

Pro-Life Wisconsin to host sidewalk counselor training workshop on UW-Green Bay campus tomorrow

Pro-Life Wisconsin will host a sidewalk counselor training workshop on Tuesday, October 23 at 6:00 p.m. on the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Campus. The event will be held at UW-GB’s Christie Theatre (on the first floor of the University Union) and is open to the public. For a campus map, click here. The workshop is scheduled to run until 8:30 p.m. and will also feature role-playing scenarios.

Lisa Sommers of Rachel’s Vineyard will provide the training. Lisa has held or assisted with PLW sidewalk counseling training sessions since early 2011. Each participant will receive a copy of Pro-Life Wisconsin’s new Sidewalk Counselor’s Handbook as well as a sample folder filled with literature that can be used on the sidewalks. These sample packs will include information on birth control, chemical abortion, surgical abortion, fetal development, post-abortion healing and more.

The workshop is being hosted in conjunction with the UW-GB Phoenix Students for Life.

Stories from the Sidewalk:  Finding hope in the midst of despair

From Pro-Life Wisconsin’s blog:

I’m not exactly sure how I ended up on this sidewalk. It’s 40 degrees, and my legs are shaking. The Friday sun is setting, and I should have fun plans with my friends. In between praying  Glory Bes and Our Fathers, my stomach growls, and I dream about the warm dinner I could be eating. I stare at my feet, glued to a rather disheartening piece of cold concrete. This is not a normal college student activity, I tell myself. But then I hear a car speed around the corner. I pick up my head, force a smile, and ask the Holy Spirit to take over.

The car slows down, and the man in the driver’s seat rolls down the window just a hair. I walk toward the car and, with trembling hands, pull a pamphlet about fetal development out of my pocket. I widen my smile, make eye contact, and try to meet the couple before me with love.

“Hi my name is Kristin, and this is for you.”
