Barrett accuses Walker of "Playing god" with rape victims

In a brazen attack on Scott Walker’s campaign for governor, pro-abortion Democrat Tom Barrett lashed out against Walker’s total protection pro-life position which permits no exceptions for rape, incest or a perceived threat to the mother’s life. Barrett’s latest television ad, running in Milwaukee and Green Bay, features parents of a rape victim who coldly accuse Walker of “play(ing) god with our family” and labeling him “too extreme” for Wisconsin. Click here to view the ad. Click here for the Associated Press article about the ad and Pro-Life Wisconsin's response. This AP article was carried in major metropolitan newspapers across the country on Friday and was featured on the pro-abortion Huffington Post website.

Pro-Life Wisconsin denounces this incendiary scare tactic by a desperate Barrett campaign. Those who support direct abortion in any circumstance are the ones ‘playing god.” The hypocrisy of this ad could not be more evident.

The pro-life community’s disposition toward victims of sexual assault is compassionate and life-affirming. The compassionate response to rape is to meet the real needs of the victim. In the rare instance of pregnancy resulting from rape, providing life-affirming medical, financial, emotional and spiritual care meets these needs. Pro-life groups across the state of Wisconsin — more than 100 crisis pregnancy centers, and groups like Life After Assault League — are doing this critical work. Adoption is a life-affirming alternative that can help transform something horrible into something beautiful — a loving gift to a couple desperately yearning for a child. Such a selfless act of love assists in the healing process of the traumatized woman.

Abortion takes the life of a living human being. The circumstances of conception may have been criminal, but the life of the newly-created child is just as valuable as any other person's.  We ask Tom Barrett: Are children conceived in rape any less valuable or worthy of protection than his own children? We do not put criminals' innocent children to death in our culture; it simply isn't done. It should not be done in this situation, either. Last week of 40 Days for Life

This is the last week of 40 Days for Life. The campaign began Sept. 22 and ends Sunday, Oct. 31. As of today, 445 babies have been saved due to the campaign.

Fourteen of those saved babies happened in Milwaukee. This past Saturday, the abortion facility in Milwaukee — Affiliated Medical Services, located at 1428 N. Farwell Ave. — was closed. This is the second time during just this fall's 40 Days for Life that Affiliated has been closed on a Saturday!

In the picture to the left, Pro-Life Wisconsin's Virginia Zignego (left) and Peggy Hamill (right) are with Dan Miller, the Milwaukee 40 Days for Life coordinator. The vests say "Parenthood Volunteer" and are a pro-life take on the vests the abortion facility volunteers wear.

Please – join 40 Days for Life today as we celebrate the joy of life and offer women love and hope outside Wisconsin’s abortion mills. There's only one week left! If you can’t join us, keep us in your prayers.

40 Days for Life is observed in the Wisconsin area in Appleton, Green Bay, La Crosse, Madison, Milwaukee, Wausau and Rockford, Ill. Closing ceremonies will be held this weekend. Check the 40 Days for Life website for more information. For more information on locations and who to contact, go to the 40 Days for Life website.

What do "deathscorts" do on their day off?

The term "deathscort" is given to the pro-abortion men and women who act as escorts for those seeking entry into abortion mills. As volunteers, these people believe they are protecting women by taking them by the hand to lead them into the abortion mills.

Affiliated Medical Services, Milwaukee's only abortion facility usually open on Saturdays, was closed this past Saturday. This is great news, as Affiliated normally performs 10-15 abortions on a Saturday.

Two deathscorts (see picture, left) and one Affiliated Medical Services worker staged a three-person pro-abortion rally on the other side of the street, in front of a pro-life crisis pregnancy center. It is sad that their commitment to the pro-abortion cause runs so deep they feel compelled to return to the abortion mill on a day when it is closed.

Pro-life sidewalk counselors attempt to minister not only to those entering the abortion mill, but also to the workers and escorts. Please keep everyone in your prayers, so that hearts may be softened.

Chinese woman forced to abort 8-month-old baby

This is how China enforces its one-child policy.

From the New York Times:
BEIJING (AP) — A pregnant woman in south China was detained, beaten and forced to have an abortion just a month before her due date because the baby would have violated the country's one-child limit, her husband said Thursday.

Construction worker Luo Yanquan said his wife was taken kicking and screaming from their home by more than a dozen people on Oct. 10 and detained in a clinic for three days by family planning officials, then taken to a hospital and injected with a drug that killed her baby.

Family planning officials told the couple they weren't allowed to have the child because they already have a 9-year-old daughter, Luo said.

Congratulations to Archbishop Burke on his appointment as a Cardinal

Wisconsin native son and former La Crosse Bishop Raymond L. Burke was among 24 new cardinals announced by Pope Benedict XVI on Oct. 20. Archbishop Burke is currently Archbishop emeritus of the St. Louis archdiocese and is prefect of the Vatican's apostolic signature.

“This is such a blessing for the Church and the faithful,” said Peggy Hamill, state director of Pro-Life Wisconsin. “Pro-Life Wisconsin is honored to enjoy his express support of our life-saving mission.”

Archbishop Burke is a staunch defender on teachings of the Catholic Church regarding contraception, abortion and denying Communion to pro-abortion politicians who persist in their error.

Archbishop Burke recently stated, “When a person has publicly espoused and cooperated in gravely sinful acts, leading many into confusion and error about fundamental questions of respect for human life and the integrity of marriage and the family, his repentance of such actions must also be public. The person in question bears a heavy responsibility for the grave scandal which he has caused. The responsibility is especially heavy for political leaders.”

The Church, Her faithful and society at large can only benefit from Archbishop Burke’s commitment to defending innocent human life. We pray for Archbishop Burke and wish him all the best.
