Abortion
“absolutely never medically necessary”: maternal
care expert symposium
From LifeSitenews:
An international group of obstetricians and other
physicians meeting in Dublin this weekend has issued
a statement denying that abortion is ever “medically
necessary” for women.
“As experienced practitioners and researchers in
obstetrics and gynecology,” the declaration said,
“we affirm that direct abortion is not medically
necessary to save the life of a woman.”
“We uphold that there is a fundamental difference
between abortion and necessary medical treatments
that are carried out to save the life of the mother,
even if such treatment results in the loss of life
of her unborn child.
“We confirm that the prohibition of abortion does
not affect, in any way, the availability of optimal
care to pregnant women.”

Pro-Life
Wisconsin welcomes college intern Kristin Van
Spankeren
Last week, Pro-Life Wisconsin welcomed
University of
Wisconsin-Madison junior Kristin
Van Spankeren to the PLW family. Kristin
will serve as a college intern, helping to
engage the campus community in
educational, legislative and activist
efforts to defend all human life without
exception.
"Successfully evangelizing the Gospel of Life
depends on our ability to win the hearts
and minds of college students," said Pro-Life
Wisconsin Director of Development Steve Karlen.
"And there's nobody more equipped to spread the
message of life to college students than a fellow
student."
In her new role, Kristin will regularly counsel
abortion and contraception-minded clients outside
Madison's Planned Parenthood facility. She'll also
help organize the fall 40 Days for Life campaign,
bring speakers to campus, and connect pro-life, Christian
and conservative student groups to Pro-Life
Wisconsin resources.
"Kristin will make a big impact at UW-Madison,"
Karlen said. "She's led college Bible studies,
taught religious education and participated in
student pro-life activities. Plus, she's majoring
in both Spanish and community and nonprofit
leadership. Both Kristin's studies and her
extracurricular involvement will enrich her
ability to make a real impact."
For additional information on Pro-Life Wisconsin's
college outreach programs, contact Steve Karlen at
262-796-1111 ext. 14.
