Executive order a sham, says Pro-Life
Will do nothing to stop abortion funding in healthcare
legislation On Sunday, the Pro-Life Wisconsin Director of Legislative Affairs Matt
Sande made the following comments: “The President’s
executive order is a sham. It is not worth the piece of paper it is written
on. It doesn’t work to stop taxpayer-funded abortions in the healthcare bill
because it can’t, and because that’s not what it’s supposed to do. It can’t
stop the abortion funding because it does not have the force of law, the
courts will never recognize it as lawful and it can be repealed at any given
moment. And it was never intended to work because its only purpose was to
provide Congressman Stupak and his so-called pro-life Democrat colleagues
political cover for their YES votes. “The sad fact
remains that the Senate healthcare bill contains an abortion coverage mandate
and would subsidize private health plans in the insurance Exchange that
include coverage for elective abortion, a clear departure from current law.
Moreover, the executive order does nothing to address the inevitable
rationing of care. The legislation should have been scrapped and begun anew,
but now what we’re left with is an immoral bill that will usher in an
unprecedented surge in abortions across our land. May God have mercy on our
country.” On the
passing of Fr. Paul Marx, OSB, founder of Human Life International On March 20, Fr. Paul Marx, OSB, founder of Human Life
International, passed from this world into the Life that never ends. Often
referred to as "the father of the international pro-life movement",
Fr. Marx visited all 50 states and 91 countries in his over 40 years of
pro-life activism. Seeing the advance of anti-life forces before most did, he
founded the Peggy Hamill, state director, commented: Pro-Life
Wisconsin mourns this great loss and says, “Thanks be to God” for the life of
Fr. Paul Marx. So many of us at Pro-Life Wisconsin were blessed to have been
in the presence of and inspired by the wisdom of Fr. Marx. As we fight the
contraceptive mentality, we reflect on his words of warning, “Abortion starts
with contraception.” Fr. Marx, we pray for the repose of your dear soul. The Wake service for Fr. Marx
will take place Thursday, March 25, at 7 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial
will take place, Friday, March 26, at 3:30 p.m. at the American
Life League releases annual report on Planned Parenthood Number of abortion
facilites, express clinics and affiliates decline as chemical abortion use
rises Last week, American Life League released its annual report
for 2009 on Planned Parenthood. To read the report, click here. The report shows that Planned Parenthood continues to
increase its facilities that perform medical abortions while the number of
facilities, both express and non-express, decline. The total number of
facilities continues to decline as well. From
2008-09, Easier access to morning after pill
doesn’t reduce pregnancies The morning after pill, also called
emergency contraception, can cause chemical abortions and fatal blood clots. Read about the risks here. Now, a
series of studies in the Easier access does, however, increase risky
sexual behavior, as the following quote from the article illustrates, “Women
aren't typically given at-home supplies of emergency contraceptives in the From the British Medical Journal: Women given an advance supply of emergency
contraceptives were no more likely to have unprotected sex, to get an STD or
to change how they used other contraceptives, compared to women not given
advance supplies. This suggests that they are not less vigilant about safe
sex as a result. But surprisingly, the women were just as
likely to get pregnant. This was true in all the studies. The researchers aren't sure why having an
advance supply didn't lower pregnancy rates, especially since women who had
these pills were more likely to use them. Spring Awards Dinner
