Mary Panzer “Pro-Life”?
Planned Parenthood Indicates Otherwise…

Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin, the political wing of the pro-abortion and family planning association, urged support for Mary Panzer in her re-election campaign for the 20th Senate District. The group sent a letter to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel yesterday stating its preference for Panzer over her Republican primary challenger Glenn Grothman. The letter cited Panzer’s support for a state/federal program that provides free, taxpayer-funded birth control to minor children without their parent’s knowledge.

“If anyone in Washington or Ozaukee County was confused about Mary Panzer’s allegedly “pro-life” credentials, Planned Parenthood’s letter of preference for her has ended the discussion,” said Matt Sande, Pro-Life Wisconsin’s director of legislative affairs. “Planned Parenthood is the nation’s largest surgical and chemical abortion provider. And the fact is that Panzer has consistently towed the Planned Parenthood line, most recently working to kill a bill that would have prevented them from peddling free, taxpayer-funded birth control to 15 and 16 year-old girls behind their parent’s backs.”

Authored by Representative Grothman, Assembly Bill 634 would have eliminated minor children’s access to birth control and other “family planning” services under the Medicaid Family Planning Demonstration Project. Both federal and state law prohibits parents from being notified that their 15, 16, and 17 year-old sons and daughters are receiving free contraceptives under this Project.

“We know that government-funded birth control contributes to an increase in underage pregnancy, abortion and sexually transmitted diseases by encouraging teen sexual promiscuity,” said Peggy Hamill, Pro-Life Wisconsin’s state director. “Glenn Grothman’s courageous leadership in defense of the family, especially our teenage children, is truly a blessing for Wisconsin.”
