Pro-Life Wisconsin Affiliates to Observe Roe v. Wade
January 22, 2009 will mark the 36th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court decision that decriminalized abortion. Over 50 million lives in the United States have been lost because of abortion, a casualty that continues to grow daily.
While hundreds of thousands of pro-lifers descend on Washington, D.C. in protest of Roe v. Wade, six Pro-Life Wisconsin affiliates throughout Wisconsin have local events occurring to mark January 22.
In addition to the planned affiliate events, two buses with over one hundred representatives of Pro-Life Wisconsin will leave Tuesday, January 20 as part of Pro-Life Wisconsin’s annual pilgrimage to the March for Life in Washington, D.C. There they will join an estimated crowd of 200,000 pro-life activists from across the country in what has become one of the nation’s largest marches for social reform.
“The impact of Roe v. Wade in Wisconsin has resulted in more than 500,000 babies killed through surgical abortion,” said Peggy Hamill, State Director of Pro-Life Wisconsin. “Abortion is a tragedy, happening in communities every day in Wisconsin.”
The following are planned PLW affiliate events for the 36th anniversary of Roe v. Wade:
Pro-Life Wisconsin Outagamie and Winnebago County will gather for prayer at the Planned Parenthood abortuary in Appleton, located at 3800 N. Gillett St., from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Jan. 22.
Pro-Life Wisconsin Juneau County will gather for 36 minutes (one minute for each year of legalized abortion) on Jan. 22 at 7 p.m. at the Juneau County Courthouse, located at 101 State St. in Mauston.
Pro-Life Wisconsin Dane County will gather for a prayer vigil on Jan. 22 at 10 a.m. at 1 South Park Street in Madison where a second trimester abortion clinic is being considered. A prayerful vigil will also be held at Planned Parenthood on Orin Rd. from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. that day.
Pro-Life Wisconsin Kenosha will gather for a prayer vigil on Jan. 22 at noon at Planned Parenthood in Kenosha, located at the corner of 36th Ave. and Roosevelt Rd.
Pro-Life Wisconsin Rock County will host "Come What May," a movie that inspires viewers to do what is right, on Jan. 22 at 9:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. in St. Jude Parish Center, 737 Hackett St., in Beloit. Discussion will follow including an update of permanent pro-life billboards. For questions contact Sister Rosalia Bauer at (608) 364-2830.
Pro-Life Wisconsin Chippewa Valley will host a prayer vigil at Owen Park in Eau Claire on Jan. 22 at 3 p.m.
The Pro-Life Wisconsin buses will depart from St. Francis Church in Necedah at 10:00 a.m. and St. Mary’s Church in Elm Grove at 1:30 p.m.
