Pro-Life Wisconsin Reflects on
Partial Birth Abortion Bill

“Pro-Life Wisconsin is pleased that the debate surrounding partial birth abortion has raised awareness of the brutality of abortion,” Peggy Hamill, state director of Pro-Life Wisconsin, said today as President Bush prepared to sign a federal bill restricting the use of the abortion method. “Unfortunately, this bill will merely restrict one particularly gruesome abortion procedure to only the cases when a doctor deems the mother’s life to be threatened. In reality, this law will only force abortionists to use another method, that is just as barbaric, to end the baby’s life.”

“We know that this several-day procedure would truthfully never be medically necessary under any circumstances,” stated Dr. Michael John Phillips, vice president of Pro-Life Wisconsin. “Why would anyone subject a woman to this needless risk?”

“We at Pro-Life Wisconsin are not distracted by legislation such as this from our goal of restoring 1st and 14th amendment rights to the most defenseless members of our society,” continued Hamill. “Pro-Life Wisconsin urges the state and federal governments to pass a true ban on all abortions, surgical and chemical, protecting the rights of the human person from the moment of fertilization until natural death.”
