Pro-Life Wisconsin affiliates to mark Roe v. Wade with hometown memorial services
Brookfield, WI – While hundreds of thousands of pro-lifers across the country converge on Washington, D.C., local affiliates of Pro-Life Wisconsin will ensure the tragic effects of Roe v. Wade are remembered closer to home. Monday, January 22nd, will mark the 34th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade, court decision. It is estimated that over 47 million abortions have been committed in the U.S., including over 480,000 surgical abortions in the Badger state.
Eight Pro-Life Wisconsin affiliates will hold prayer services or smaller marches for life in their hometowns this weekend. These events help keep local communities focused on the daily face of abortion.
“There’s a tendency to see abortion as a national problem,” explained Marc Tuttle, Communications Director of Pro-Life Wisconsin. “But in reality, abortion is a local problem. The children being aborted are our neighbors, the children of our friends and acquaintances. These local events remind us that we are, indeed, our brother’s and sister’s keeper. Even if abortion is still legal, it doesn’t have to continue in our own backyards. We must speak out for the victims of abortion no matter what is, or is not, going on in Washington.”
Pro-Life Wisconsin affiliates will be involved in the following events on Sunday, January 21st and Monday, January 22nd:
In Marathon Co., a memorial service will be held at St. Mary’s Oratory in Wausau, Sunday, January 21st. Morning mass at the Oratory will be followed by a pro-life prayer chain at 11:00 a.m. along Grand Ave. in Wausau. There will also be a lunch at 12:00 p.m. with presentations at 1 p.m. by Julie Grimstad, executive director of Life is Worth Living, Inc., member of Pro-Life Wisconsin’s Speakers Bureau, as well as pro-life speaker Tony Kovach. Contact Ron Putzer, (715) 842-5368, for more information.
Pro-Life Wisconsin Dane Co. will hold a day of prayer and commemoration on Monday, January 22nd. The day will begin with Mass at 12:10 p.m. at St. Patrick’s on Main St., followed by prayer and public witness at the Planned Parenthood abortion facility on Orin Rd. from 1-2 p.m. For more information please call Jeanne Breunig, (608) 831-3139.
