Pro-Life Wisconsin joins American Life League in telling the truth about contraception

June 7 marks the 44th anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court decision Griswold v. Connecticut. This was the first of many decisions leading to the culture of death we live in today.

When the Supreme Court decided the Griswold v. Connecticut case, it set a legal precedent by claiming the Constitution grants women the “right to privacy” in matters of sexual practice. This meant Connecticut and the rest of the United States could not stop a married woman from obtaining birth control pills. The ruling paved the way for abortion on demand in the United States. Pro-Life Wisconsinites will gather throughout the state to mark the anniversary of Griswold v. Connecticut.

This year’s Griswold anniversary comes as the Wisconsin Legislature prepares to vote on the biennial budget bill. Regrettably, the current budget bill contains two onerous birth control mandates that violate the lawful conscience rights of pro-life pharmacists and health insurers. The first would force Wisconsin pharmacies to dispense prescribed contraceptive drugs or devices “without delay.” The second would force public and private health insurance plans to cover contraceptive drugs and devices. Ironically, it appears the Griswold “right to privacy” has morphed into a public mandate forcing everyone to embrace birth control whether they want to or not.

Marking the anniversary of Griswold, Pro-Life Wisconsin joins American Life League in “Protest the Pill Day.” Prayer vigils will be held across the country. For more information on “Protest the Pill Day,” go to ThePillKills.com.
