Pro-Life Wisconsin to Honor Activist and Legislator of the Year at Spring Awards Dinner in Wisconsin Rapids

Pro-Life Wisconsin’s Spring Awards Dinner will be held Saturday, April 18 at the Hotel Mead in Wisconsin Rapids. Pro-Life Wisconsinites will be gathering from throughout the state to honor Pro-Life Wisconsin’s Activist of the Year, Jim Schmidt, and Pro-Life Wisconsin’s Legislator of the Year, State Representative Jerry Petrowski (R-Wausau).

“Representative Petrowski is a strong defender of all human life at the State Capitol,” said Matt Sande, Director of Legislation. “For Jerry Petrowksi, being pro-life is not just voting the right way in Madison - it’s living out a message of love and hope back home and wherever he goes.”

“Jim Schmidt and his wife Jean have been involved with Pro-Life Wisconsin since our founding in 1992,” said Peggy Hamill, State Director. “Jim helped found and continues to lead our PLW Juneau County affiliate. Jim plays a key role in monthly affiliate meetings, yearly events and weekly pickets of the Mauston Family Planning Health Services.”

Family Planning Health Services, Inc. and their Wisconsin clinics annually provide over $1 million of taxpayer-funded birth control drugs to minor girls without parental knowledge or consent.

The evening’s keynote speaker is Scott Southworth, Juneau County District Attorney. While serving in Iraq in 2003, Southworth met an orphaned Iraqi boy whom he adopted in 2007. Southworth is unwavering in his defense of the disabled and strongly supports establishing legal personhood for preborn children.
