Pro-Life Wisconsin to Honor Activists and Legislator of the Year at Spring Awards Dinner in DePere

Pro-Life Wisconsin’s Spring Awards Dinner will be held Saturday, April 19 at the Apple Creek Inn in DePere. Pro-Life Wisconsinites will be gathering from throughout the state to honor Pro-Life Wisconsin’s Activists of the Year, Joel and Carrie Jensen, and Pro-Life Wisconsin’s Legislator of the Year, State Representative Mark Gundrum (R-New Berlin).

“Joel and Carrie Jensen are lifelong Pro-Life Wisconsin supporters and a key part of Pro-Life Wisconsin’s True to Life media campaign,” said Peggy Hamill, State Director of Pro-Life Wisconsin. “Because of the Jensens’ Chicago Marathon run this past October and the pledges collected from the run to benefit Pro-Life Wisconsin, they had a major role in the placing of 3,600 life-saving television ads on 20 Wisconsin stations.”

Currently in Iraq serving as an Army Judge Advocate General, Representative Gundrum was a strong opponent of the recently-enacted Chemical Abortion Hospital Mandate – an unconstitutional law that forces all Wisconsin hospitals to provide so-called “emergency contraception,” including the morning-after pill and the IUD, to rape victims.

“Representative Gundrum is a strong defender of all human life at the State Capitol,” said Matt Sande, Director of Legislation. “Mark’s passionate commitment to embryonic children, vulnerable women and medical professionals of conscience is commendable. Pro-Life Wisconsin is extremely proud of Mark Gundrum, the first legislator to have received this award twice. ”

The evening’s keynote speaker is Father James Kubicki, the national director of the Apostleship of Prayer. In addition to being a frequent guest on radio and television, Fr. Kubicki is a popular conference speaker, retreat director and parish mission speaker.

“The Spring Awards Dinner will be a fantastic evening of honoring those who work tirelessly in Wisconsin to protect preborn children,” said Hamill. “As we gather from across the state we will be honoring more than just the Jensens and Representative Gundrum. We will be honoring every Wisconsinite who takes a stand to protect these precious babies that our society has deemed ‘unwanted.’”
