Pro-Life Wisconsin welcomes Matt Sande as new Director of Legislative Affairs

Pro-Life Wisconsin today announced that Matt Sande has accepted the organization's new Director of Legislative Affairs position, effective February 4th.

"We're thrilled that Matt has agreed to become part of our team," said Mary Matuska, Pro-Life Wisconsin's current Legislative Director. "Matt's commitment to the 100% pro-life message and extensive experience at the State Capitol will make Pro-Life Wisconsin even more effective in protecting innocent human life."

Sande, 34, of Cambridge, has gathered extensive experience within Wisconsin legislative and political circles over the past ten years. After graduating from the University of Notre Dame in 1991, Sande served in the state Assembly and Senate for seven years as an aide to several Republican legislators. For the past three years, he served as director of legislation for the Wisconsin Hospital Association.

"The opportunity to represent the pro-life movement in Madison is something of a 'dream come true' for me," said Sande. "Abortion, euthanasia, cloning -- these are the critical issues that will morally define our times. Pro-Life Wisconsin's principled commitment to the protection of innocent human life, in all circumstances and at all stages of development, is unique in Wisconsin, and I am proud to be on their team."

Sande and Matuska will serve as Pro-Life Wisconsin's lobbyists in Madison during the 2003-04 session.

Matuska, a co-founder of Pro-Life Wisconsin in 1992, has assumed the position of Deputy Director of Legislative Affairs. She remains a member of the organization's Board of Directors and president of the Pro-Life Wisconsin Victory Fund Political Action Committee.

"With looming battles over human cloning and protecting the rights and consciences of pro-life health care professionals, Matt's addition to our staff will allow us to make a 'full-court press' in Madison this legislative session," said Peggy Hamill, state director of Pro-Life Wisconsin.
