Wisconsin Presidential Primary Election

Tuesday, February 19

Don’t Forget to Vote!

Don’t forget to vote in next Tuesday’s presidential primary election (February 19) – let your pro-life voice be heard!

You may vote for only one presidential candidate in one party.

The following provides a brief description of the candidates’ views on the issue of abortion. The candidates listed below are those remaining in the presidential race.

Republican Presidential Candidates
Mike Huckabee: Former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee is 100% pro-life. Huckabee supports a constitutional amendment protecting human life without exception and believes that the Roe v. Wade decision should be overturned. A vocal and articulate defender of human life, Huckabee has made the pro-life issue a central platform of his campaign. Huckabee opposes human embryonic stem cell research.

John McCain: U.S. Senator John McCain of Arizona opposes abortion except in cases of rape, incest, or to protect the life of the mother. McCain believes the Roe v. Wade decision should be overturned and the abortion question returned to the individual states. He supports strengthening crisis pregnancy centers and is an advocate of adoption. In 1993, John McCain and his wife, Cindy, adopted a little girl from Mother Teresa's orphanage in Bangladesh. McCain supports federal funding of human embryonic stem cell research. He voted for the Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act that would federally fund the destruction of human embryos for scientific research.

Ron Paul: U.S. Congressman Ron Paul of Texas is 100% pro-life. Paul is the author of the Sanctity of Life Act, federal legislation that would define human life as beginning at conception and restore legal personhood to the unborn child. Paul believes the Roe v. Wade decision should be overturned. While Paul would support a constitutional amendment protecting human life without exception, he prefers to remove the abortion issue from the jurisdiction of the federal courts and then ban abortion at the state level. An OB/GYN physician, Dr. Paul has delivered over 4,000 babies. Paul opposes federal funding of human embryonic stem cell research and voted against the Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act that would federally fund the destruction of human embryos for scientific research.
Paul has opposed certain federal restrictions on abortion as well as federal funding of adult stem cell research due to his strong libertarian/federalist (states rights) political philosophy.

Democrat Presidential Candidates
Hillary Clinton: U.S. Senator Hillary Clinton of New York supports Roe v. Wade. Clinton is a co-sponsor of the Freedom of Choice Act, federal legislation that would protect, consistent with Roe, abortion on demand in America. Clinton supports federal funding of human embryonic stem cell research. She voted for the Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act that would federally fund the destruction of human embryos for scientific research.

Barack Obama: U.S. Senator Barack Obama of Illinois supports Roe v. Wade. Obama is a co-sponsor of the Freedom of Choice Act, federal legislation that would protect, consistent with Roe, abortion on demand in America. Obama supports federal funding of human embryonic stem cell research. He voted for the Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act that would federally fund the destruction of human embryos for scientific research.
