Runners for Life

Runners for Life, a project of Pro-Life Wisconsin Education Task Force, brings together pro-life runners of every level– marathon runners, tri-athletes, student athletes and recreational runners – to train and compete with a purpose: the cause of Life! Sponsorships for miles run and other charitable pledges go directly to the pro-life movement, where lives are being saved every day.

If you are interested in becoming a part of Runners for Life, or if you are interested in sponsoring a runner, please call Pro-Life Wisconsin.

It’s an anniversary Joel and Carrie Jensen are unlikely to forget - the couple celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary by running the Chicago Marathon on October 7, 2007.

The Jensens accepted pledges for their 26.2 mile run to benefit Pro-Life Wisconsin’s Runners for Life Fund. The temperature was already 70 degrees in Chicago when the Jensens left their home in Brookfield at 4:30 a.m. On account of the record-high 88 degree heat, it took 5 hours and 46 minutes for the couple to complete the marathon.

"The first half of the marathon was filled with many welcome distractions and was rather enjoyable. We started noticing the effects of the heat right around the 13-mile point," said Carrie Jensen. "The final 8.2 miles were surreal… To run on Respect Life Sunday was a joy as well, because our run was also a celebration of our 10th year of marriage and the seven children God has blessed us with."

The Jensens accepted pledges for their marathon run to benefit Pro-Life Wisconsin’s True to Life Media Campaign

The proceeds Pro-Life Wisconsin collected from the Jensens’ run allowed Pro-Life Wisconsin to work with the Knights of Columbus to fund VirtueMedia pro-life television ads in selected Wisconsin markets.
